August 2025

August 1, 2025

It must be the height of summer…the hot temperatures and stagnant air seems to be affecting everyone…and not in a good way…if the current news from around the world is any indication.

To help keep my sanity and remain calm, I often dive into an art project…a little distraction is good for the soul and the mind.

I’ve had an idea for using my collection of Baby Ben clock faces for some time…combining these old faces with my latest creations of paper quilt squares seemed like a good match-up…I went to work.

“Passage of Time”

Using up those bits and pieces, meshing them into a cohesive composition is immensely satisfying…in my own way, I can make some sense of a jumble of materials.

I thought that others might enjoy joining me for an afternoon of taking random scraps and creating a unique collage. You might remember that a couple of months ago I wrote about making such collages from scraps of fabric…pulling together similar colors and tones, and combining them with needle and thread to make a hanging banner…something to display in your garden, outside your front door or adorn a corner of your office.

I am happy to offer a Scrap Fabric Banner workshop on Saturday August 9 here in Everett. All the details plus registration information can be found HERE.

As summer winds down, I hope you can take a little time to recharge and rest…I will certainly be doing that myself!

And a reminder…I am shutting down my Etsy shop…Everything is on sale 25% off…Sale ends on August 15, the last day of my shop. I’m researching new places to sell my art online…I’ll keep you posted.
