Wall Hanging - Collage Paper Quilt - "Measure Once, Cut Twice"

A modern take on the traditional fabric string quilt design, using scraps of vintage paper ephemera, junk mail and the artist's own handmade collage papers as the "fabric" for this wall hanging.

Sewn together in the traditional patchwork design, each completed square is then joined together with accompanying square to form a chevron pattern. The strip of three conjoined squares are sewn onto a paper backing to give stability and strength to the completed "quilt". The middle of each square is highlighted with a steel metal brad. A vintage wood school ruler is attached at each end completes the quilt and includes a sawtooth hanger on the back of the top ruler for hanging.

The title of "Measure Once, Cut Twice" makes a pun to reference that one should be careful when building to avoid mistakes...there are several strips of original blueprints in the quilt...hard to follow the plan when you don't have the complete picture...

Paper collage is 38" long and 12" wide.
